RBS (Royal bank of Scotland) is to slash another 9000 people from it's 45000 workforce worldwide, 4500 in the UK.

The bank says that the redundancies will be made from it's "back office" staff with minimal impact on customer services.

Unions were quoted as saying the new is "truly devastating".

Details are still finalised regarding redundancy packages, and the specific location of the job losses.
