One of the UK's largest Mobile Phone operators and the world's largest (by income) has announced 500 redundancies from the UK. Vodafone who employs 10000 people in the United Kingdom - says most of the job losses would be in back office roles including call centres and sales staff.

Offices that will potentially be affected: Newbury, Stoke on Trent, Hayes, Warrington, London, Trowbridge, Theale, Banbury and Newark.

The company says that lower costs will enable them to be more competitive.

Vodafone recently announced 14.3% increased revenue at £10.47 Billion.
