Royal Navy Personnel who are not currently on or preparing for deployment are eligible for redundancy with 400 compulsory redundancies expected by the MoD. This is the first round of 1,100 redundancies planned with the next set due in March and a further 5000 cuts by 2015.

22,000 cuts are expected across the three military services with 7,000 Army and 5,000 RAF redundancies. 25,000 civilian staff will also be lost from the MoD
