Boeing has announced that 10000 jobs are to go worldwide. It is not yet certain where the redundancies will be, but the company employs 600 workers in the UK.

The company cites the economic downturn as the chief reason, but they have also been losing ground to arch rival Europe's Airbus.

It is hoped that most job losses will be through natural wastage.
