The Canadian Owned train making company Bombardier has announced the loss of 1400 jobs at it's plant in Derby.

Only last month the Government gave the Thames Link contract to German Company Siemens.

Unions and employees are upset that the Government was unable to do more to ensure British jobs, not German, were protected when the contract was awarded.

The company is now in a 90 days consultations with the staff regarding final figures and terms of the redundancy package.
