1000 army jobs are to go in the first round of MOD job cuts. The government insist operations in Afghanistan and Libya will not be affected by the MOD spending cuts.
Many personel are currently approaching their 16 year mark, significant for calculating pension payments, but MOD sources are saying that there may some sort of compensation payment due for those approaching this significant milestone.
Specific terms and conditions of the Army cuts are being negotiated and more cuts are due soon.
The government claims front-line support will not be affected.
