Viyella has 40 stores and further concession and discount outlets. The company blames recent performance and future prospects in the current economic climate.

It is hoped the administrators can find a buyer to save jobs.

This announcement doesn't affect the mensware and home ware businesses.

Viyella has traded since 1784.
