2008 saw a massive 11.3% drop in car sales over 2007 figures sparking fears of an even bigger shakeup than predicted across the industry.
With many companies slashing production, extending shut down periods and reporting huge stockpiling of new cars, the near future is looking bleak.
Unions are calling for the UK Government to support the industry during the downturn.
