Public sector cuts and continuing uncertainty in the UK economy are already being blamed for the expected rise in redundancies over the next few months.
The institute of personnel development has surveyed many organisations and found that 4 in 10 are planning further job cuts.
It is hoped that the private sector will ease some of the pain, though this is far from certain given the severity of the cuts.
