Default 2600 more redundancies at RBS (Royal bank of Scotland)

Yet another 2600 jobs are to be cut at the Royal Bank of Scotland, mostly from it's insurance division. 600 jobs are to go at it's head office.

Edinburgh and Glasgow will see 500 job cuts.

    Have your say on RBS.
Do you know more than the above announcement?
How have RBS and the Government handled the situation?

RBS is planning to combine Direct Line's IT services with it's own at the bank in order to save money - in part by making around 200 redundancies at Direct Line (in addition to the many more jobs likely to be 'lost' when the Churchill integration work starts).

Whilst 'striving for efficiencies' is an admirable sentiment, doing so at the expense of staff is not. Especially when profits are as high as they are. If the bank continues to show such scant regard for it's staff, many will start voting with their feet and leaving and those that remain are most unlikely to be as loyal and commited as they otherwise might be.
