    Default More rumours?

I just had a call from a colleague. There's more talk of redundancies today but she had nothing more to tell me.

    Has anybody heard any rumours?

    Thankyou

It has just been announced that the HSBC will be cutting 500 jobs across the United Kingdom.

The bank employs 58000 people in the UK and blames economic decisions for the cuts.

Unite's Derek Simpson says they will oppose compulsary redundancies.

Right. So close for to Christmas. Frankly I'm appalled. I mean how much difference will 500 jobs make to a company like ours. Was there a need for this announcement? Couldn't it have just been done over a few months with natural wastage? Now there are 10s of thousands of employees worried when there was no need.

Paul Thurstan - have a good Xmas.
