Administrators running First Quench have announced the closure of 373 stores and the loss of a massive 1738 jobs. The company blamed falling sales in the recession.

First quench employs a total of 6500 people across 1300 store locations.

Many workers blame supermarkets and their ability to sell long term loss leaders for the demise of the chain.

KPMG the administrators are hoping to sell off the remaining stores.
