Defence giant BAE Systems has just announced it's latest wave of job cuts. In this cull, 1116 positions will be made redundant including the closure of the entire aircraft factory in Cheshire.

Other locations affected will be in Samlesbury, Warton in Lancashire.

The company will work with unions to keep the job cuts to a minimum and avoid compulsory redundancies.

The job cuts come as a surprise to many citing the need for more equipment required in the continuing conflict in Afghanistan.
