We were taken over by a large company in January 09.
I have been given no details of redundancy as they are sorting out roles, for six months!, so I am closing down on the work that I was doing last year. I only work part time and I am finding it hard to fill the hours that I work.
They have said that there is a role for me and have been told that I have a new boss, though this has all been by informal chat and not by letter. I have not been given any details of this role, but have been told it is similar to what I am doing now.
My salary and all terms and conditions were to stay the same.
I have now been told that our discretionary bonus scheme is changing and we are to join the new company scheme. They have given me a job grade and said that I have to take part. However other people in our department have had this 10% bonus added to their salaries. They are on different grades. I find this discriminating that some people have to accept the bonus scheme and others get an effective 10% payrise. They have given me a letter to sign backdating this change to 1st April. I have not yet signed it.
My two questions are:
1. How long am I to sit in my current position until they tell me I have a new role? Cold I sit here indefinitely? I have received no communication and no formal letters on this. Do I have to accept the role they offer me?, as they are not officially making me redundant, it is just assumed I will take this role on.
2. Do I have to accept the change to my bonus scheme? Are they being discriminating in paying the 10% to some people in their salary but making me join the scheme.
Thanks
