Hi can anyone give me some advice on this,


I just need some clarification, when some one is being made redundant I always believed that it was the role being made redundant and not the person.

I joined my company on Aug 2007, (it is in the motoring industry) taking the role because I was told that they are a strong company with a good profit turnover.
I understand that the recession has hit a lot of people in the finance and the motoring industry. Around September last year 2008 the company started to make people redundant, I work in Accounts Payable and we where informed that we wouldn't know the situation of finance until mid quarter 1, around February 2009. There are only five people in my section of AR & AP. I was informed in February that my job was at risk as they where re-allocating the A/P section to a central hub. They then proceeded to send out the project Agenda which I have put in the attached file; this clearly shows that they had originally started to look into removing the AP section back in 2007. Obviously had I known this I would not have taken the position, on top of that the new structure shows that elements of AP will still be here.
I have been told that the date they are working to is 31.8.09, as yet I haven't been given a confirmed finished date which is making it difficult to approach Agency's to start looking for a new job, also they have not confirmed that if I manage to find a job and it starts the 1.9.09 that I will still be entitled to my redundancy if the project goes over that date.

How long are they allowed to keep me in suspense as to a finish date?
Should they have informed me in my interview that they where possibly looking to out-source the department?


Do I have any grounds to be unsatisfied with my company, is there any grounds that it is unfair to dismiss us but still keep some of the role (if indeed redundancy means THE ROLE is REDUNDANT NOT THE PERSON.)
