I was made redundant on 5th April 2009and agreed to a 2-month trial period for 'suitable alternative employment'. I've decided that the trial period has been unsuccessful and have notified my employer that I wish to take my redundancy payment. They've informed me that I must work 6 weeks' notice, starting from the end of my trial period (5th June 2009).
My redundancy policy states:
"An employee assumes redeployed status when they are advised that they are potentially redundant. An employee will normally be a redeployee for a maximum of 3 months, which will run concurrently with their notice period" and also
"The employee retains redeployed status until they leave the organisation, satisfactorily complete a trial period in another post or apply for and are successful in gaining promotion"
My understanding of the above clauses is that I'm classed as a redeployed employee and therefore shouldn't have to work past 5th June 2009, as my notice period is running concurrently with my trial period. Am I right?!

Notice period/Trial period

Hi
From the clause in your redundancy policy, it would appear that the trial period will run concurrently with the notice period.
If you haven't agreed to other terms and conditions when you accepted the offer of alternative work, this should stand.
I would bring this to the attention of your line manager if you haven't already done so.Clara Buckingham
