Part time worker redundancy I have recieved notice that we are to have a redundancy in our department, this is out of 5 people including myself. I am the only part-time worker included in this and the letter states that the company needs to reduce to four full time staff.... Is this allowed?? And can I decide to work full time and therefore be on even kill with my colleagues? Advice would be appreciated

Hi
Your employer should use an objective criteria to make the selection for redundancy. The selection criteria and the selection pool (those at risk of redundancy and selection criteria applied to) should be made clear to you during the consultation period.
There is a piece of legislation whereby part-time workers must not be treated less favourably than comparable full-time workers - Part-time Workers (Prevention of Less Favourable Treatment) Regulations 2000.
If an employer automatically makes part-time staff redundant it is likely to infringe these regulations.
I hope this helps.Clara Buckingham
