I have a redundancy consultation meeting tomorrow. I have just over 6 years with the company, a large global consultancy of c17,000 employees (and dropping it seems!). I am one of 5 in my small business unit up for consultation.
This is my first encounter with redundancy, and I feel upbeat, it could well give me plenty of opportunities that I can pursue...however, I have this niggling feeling that I shouldn't express this feeling during the meeting; if I did, could this impact on what redundancy pay I am due? Maybe I am being paranoid, but I wold very much appreciate an idea of "dos and don'ts" so I don't put my foot in it.
Also - I would like to ask to see the minutes of meetings, and the justificiation behind making my role redundant. At the moment I have been given 'economic decline' as the reason, but nothing else as yet. Obviously the company will still be working out why, but I would like something concrete.
Any help gratefully received.

I was made redundant 3 years ago! Seriously I know exactly how it feels to be made redundant, I remember the fear of the future I had at that time, but be strong for your meeting and beyond because I don't know anyone who isn't better off after being made redundant, albeit that it feels at the time like the end of things rather than the beggining of something new.
But I found an opportunity later that I wish I had found at the time - hence why I am seeking to try and help people being made redundant currently. Get's you back on your feet immediately and I'm earning way more than I was in my old job.
