Hello
I would be interested to hear opinions of whether my redundancy was fair.
I worked as one of the analysts in a team. The whole team was made redundant including the manager. There was no selection criteria for deciding who was to be made redundant, and no scoring of individuals. All team members were redundant.
Management have said that some of the analysis work that was being carried out by my team will be carried out in future by other staff. Some of this work will be carried out by non analysts and some by analysts in other departments.
I thought that it was roles and not people who got made redundant. As such, I don't see how the company can continue to do the analysis work that the team used to do.
The company could have argued that there was a reduction in the amount of analysis work required across the company and that a number of analysts had to be made redundant. This approach would require that they had a selection criteria applied to all analysts across the company. But there was no such selection criteria.
I think redundancy procedure has not been correctly applied in my case. What do you think ?
Thanks
Peter
