    Default re employment

    ater making a redundancy at the end of jan 09 due to a downturn in trading how long is it before we can re employ someone should trade pick up?

    Hi

    There is no hard and fast rule for this question.

    It is not uncommon for companies to make genuine redundancies and then later need to recruit again due to an increase in trade.

    If you are in a position to recruit for a position which you previously made genuinely redundant, you may wish to re-engage the former employee on new employment contracts. There are obvious advantages to this.
