I'm in a difficult situation here and don't really know where I stand. I started to work here as an NVQ student on an apprenticeship, but in January 2009 when I completed my NVQ i was offered a full time job here which I accepted. In February 2009 someone in my office was made redundant.

I was then told in February that because of the redundancy, I couldn't have my job, i would have to apply for it, which I did, only to be told a week later that actually, I can't have my job at all.

I know theres a rule which states that if the person made redundant could do the offered job they should have it, but my argument is that they couldn't, because I use specialist software which they have no training in. The job wasn't offered to that person, and is being offered to no one because apparently no one can have it.

Scared to just leave the workplace in a time like this I have stayed and am now doing an NVQ3, but I just wondered if I had a proper argument I could bring forward?
