I believe that shortly the business I work for will cease trading, contacting creditors to inform them they are unable to meet their debts and stating that they will apply for a winding up order in the near future unless there are any objections. There are apparently insufficient funds to pay an administrator to do this.
I have not been told this officially yet, but am concerned, as it appears that the business will be unable to pay redundancy pay etc. My understanding is that I can only claim from the National Insurance fund if the company is actually declared insolvent, and am confused about the circumstances.
At what point would my notice commence? Would it be deemed on issue of any such notice, or would I be entitled to notice in writing? It has been inferred that I may be employed by another business owned by the director, but again, not confirmed. If this happens what happens to my entitlement to any notice pay or redundancy payment.
