Offshoring our team, what am I entitled to? I was recently informed by my manager that the company I work for is going to Offshore part of its business, and our team is going to be one of those departments to replaced by a team working in the other country, I estimate it will take at least 6-9 months to transfer our tasks out there, however it is also going to take me and my teams time, effort & training to make this happen. Obviously none of us want to train others to do ourselves out of a job, but what I would like to know is - Does my employer had an obligation to offer some kind of pre notification about what our redundancy package is likely to be in 6 months time so I know whether it is worth seeing it through, and should I be getting a retainer bonus sorted out? If not should I just encourage my team to hurry up and get out so it causes them a difficulty in getting our department offshored? Without us there is little they can do!

Hi
Your employer is not obliged to give a heads up on any future package, so you should just assume you will get at least the statutory minimum, unless there is a contractual scheme in place.
However, it sounds like your employer woudl be daft not to consider some sort of retention bonus, as you have suggested. It would be a good idea to raise this with your employer - if you can do so without fear of being finished early! If you have a good relationship with your boss, why not raise this with them and see what they say - you have nothing to lose.
