Default My rep can't attend my final consultation meeting - can I ask for a postponement?

I'm the only one at a small business of 12 people, going through redundancy consultation period. I am a member of trade union, and have sought their advice, however i have not been allowed to have them attend the consultation meetings, but understand I am allowed to have them attend the final meeting. He is a full time trade union official and has no affiliation to my company.

I have now received notification of the time of the final meeting, however the time that has been suggested my rep cannot attend. I have asked for a postponement, till when he can attend, but am not sure what my rights are if my employer says no.

    Any advice is appreciated.

Hi Mikeo, welcome to the forum.

If you can't attend the meeting because your representative is unavailable you can request that the meeting is postponed. I would advise that any request to postpone the final meeting is put in writing setting out the reason.

The meeting can be postponed for up to 5 days if your representative is not available.

If an you are denied the right to be accompanied, you can bring a complaint before an Employment Tribunal

    I hope this helps.
