I work for Shoe Studio as a branch manager in one of its stand alone stores. Ive worked for Shoe Studio for around 6 years. On Tuesday we were informed that Mosaic which owned Shoe Studio had gone into administration, but that it was business as usual and not to worry about wages etc.
Yesterday afternoon administrators came into the branch, asked us to close the doors and to cease trading with immediate effect. The new buyer had only bought the concession stores not the freestanders/standalone stores. We were all made redundant immediately with no notice and informed that we would receive a pack through the post detailing how to claim any redundancy.
Im actually 6 months pregnant, my baby due on the 22nd May 2009. I had already forwarded my matB1 form to our HR department and had received back details explaining my maternity package to start on my chosen leaving date of 19th April.
What will happen now and what am I entitled to? I cant go out and find another job until I had planned to go on maternity, no one would employ me in this condition! How can I now claim maternity pay and who from? Is my employer no longer required to honor the maternity pay details they had given me?
Please help!
