I was made redundant on Friday but im not too sure my company are going around it the correct way.
There was a lot of hear-say and rumours prior to a few people and myself being made redundant but nothing official untill the Friday when we got told. I always thought the company was to tell everyone that some redundancys would be taken place , either verbally or in writing in advance. They never asked for any volounteers or anything , just an abrubt friday afternoon "you're being made redundant." Is this legal what they did?
Also, I just had 2 days off to look for a new job and i heard through a colleague that i wouldnt be getting paid for my time off. After checking online i thought they had to give a minimum of 2/5 off your weekly working hours wage for time off. Is this true or should i be paid?
Whats the differance between being made redundant and being paid off? i wasnt working there for more than 2 years so i know im not getting any kind of payment for my services. Surely i was made redundant and not paid off ?
thanks
