I was told in November 08 my current job was either falling away or being offshored. In essence (redundancy). We were told it would take around 9 months for the roles to fall away and we would be given our date of displacement 3 months in advance. I still have not had my displacement date.
Worried about the current job market, I started looking for a job in January and I have been sucesfull if obtaining a new job. I am due to hand in my notice to my current employer but wondered if I would be still entitled to my redundancy money? Shall I ask if I am still entitled to my redundancy as part when handing in my notice? My new job is for less money and I feel that I have been forced to find a new job.
Can anyone help?

Question re new job and redundancy

Question re new job and redundancy Dear Daven77
I regret that if you hand in your notice before any redundancy process has been notified or started, then you will not be entitled to any redundancy payments.
I appreciate that the uncertainty of losing your job by potentially this summer has spurred you to be able to find a new position, but this was your decision to do so. You can either stay in your current position and wait for the redundancy process and then find a job when hopefully the market place for jobs will be improved or take the new position, albeit on less money and then find another job at a later date.
The decision is yours.
Sorry this answer is not more helpful.
Good luck
Carol
