Hi All,
I have recently been informed that I have been selected to be made redundant following a selection pool criteria and was looking to see if anyone would be able to offer me some help/advice.
Sorry if it's a bit long winded but I didn't want to miss anything out.
We were told of the selection criteria which was competancy based and was going to be based on a review and score
by each individuals line manager. My line manager however was also at risk of redundancy and found out they were to be made redundant
before the selections for people on my level was done. My manager however copleted their scores for myself and my coleagues and subitted them
to their boss for inclusion in the selection criteria. However my manager was not included with other managers on his level in making the decisions
and scoring everyone from various departments. I have since found out that the information that my manager submitted was deemed to be
not objective enough and the managers on the selection panel dismissed the information and scoring that my manager provided and subsequently
re scored everyone in my department. I however have no interaction with any of these managers and none of them have any experience of how
I work.
To complicate matters I got this information from one of my colleagues who has not been made redundant who was told by their friend (who works in the same
department as me) who is married to someone high up in the company (who was in fact not meant to be involved in the selection process).
I feel the selection process may have not been completely objective and that favouritism was shown to my colleagues due to their friendship
with the wife of the big boss. I obviously have no proof of this and it is just a strong feeling I have.
I do however feel that it is unfair for me to be scored by someone that I have no direct working relationship with and who has no experience of working with me.
What options do I have? I have only just been told I was unsuccessful and have a further meeting in the coming week to go over things. Are there any questions I could
ask or information I am entitled to see regarding this? Also is it unfair that the information given by my line manager wasn't included?
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Redundancy - pool selection

So - the evidence you have of possible unfairness (which isn't necessarily unfair at all) was given to you verbally by a colleague who has a friend who is married to someone who is a senior manager. All of these people being willing to appear at the tribunal you claim unfair selection at? Hmmm - I think it's rather unlikely, don't you? So you have evidence of nothing. And all you can ask for is your scores and how they were arrived at.
