Hi
Both me and my partner worked for the same company last year and was told in oct 2011 after all the consultant periods were completed that we were defo being made redundant with diffferent departments due to shut down at different times the last to be end of jan 2012.
My partner worked there for 15 yrs got 12 weeks notice but they released him early after three weeks with redundancy pay because he found a job. Unfortuantly they let him go after a three month trail.
I worked for 4 weeks notice then left as well
to date everyone notice period has now ended
We are still in touch with many staff there and and found out that they keep extending th date they will be closing the factory every week and they unsure when it will actually close. My partner department is still operating.
Can they do this and for how long can they do this? if in the end they decide not to close the factory should they offer our jobs back first?
thanks

Redundancy can be postponed pretty much as long as the employer wants.
No you can't have your jobs back - you made your choice and the employer has discharged all obligations to you.
