    Question end of employment

I was made redundant yesterday, my last day should be the 24/02. However I was told last night that I do not have to work my notice and I was paid in lieu for the month of February. Now, I have a pending job offer and I do not know if I can start working already or if I have to wait after the 24/02. What does the law say about this? I got my payslip & payment for February already and I got taxed paid for month 11 (February). Thanks for your help

If you have been paid in lieu of notice then you don't need to work your notice. You are free to take up the new job.

Thank you. I was informed that I won't have a new job until maybe the end of March.
My question is now, can I apply for Job Seekers Allowance in my situation? Again, I was made redundant, I was supposed to finish the 24/2 but I was paid in lieu and I do not have to go to work. Is there any limitation in my situation for getting support from the Government? thanks a lot.

As Jarndyce has said, your employment has ended. There should be no reason why you cannot claim JDA but we are not benefits advisors.
