I'm posting this on behalf of my husband, as we would like some information on the situation that we have currently found ourself in. My hubby was made redundant just before christmas (5/12/08). He was given no notice and was told that the company had ceased trading and that there was no job available for him. he went to work monday morning and by noon he was unemployed.

We was told that the company was going into admisistration and that a new company was to buy some parts of the bussiness, unfortunaly the department that my hubby worked for wasn't one of them. All but a handful of people in that department was kept on and transfered to the new company. in total 6 out of 20 of the employees where let go.This at the time we thought was strange, the company closed up and then re-opened under a simalar name the following week!

We was told to contact the lawyers that were doing the administration for more information. We did this and they said that and my husband had to fill in forms to apply for redundancy payment from the government and that this payment would be capped. He had worked for the company 7 years. The lawyers said that they would send the information (RP1 forms?) off to the government before christmas, however after a few weeks we found out that there had been a delay in sending the forms because of a dispute between the directors of the company. The forms were eventually sent in January. We have been told that we should get a redundancy payment within 6 weeks. However nothing has been issued yet.

Please can someone advise us on how long it will take to get some form of payment. My hubby has lost his holiday pay, his wages and is surely entitled to some form of payment. Fortunatly things for us are not desprate as I am in full time work, but it would be nice for us to have this trying time closed.

Please, if anyone can advise on the above.
