    Cool Opposite of other questions

Hi. I've read questions and replies about redundancy payments for employees who were full time and became part time, but my question is the opposite. I started working part time at my present job in 1996. I then became full time in 1998. I am now being made redudant and am unsure of which date my length of service should be taken from?

    Dear greenjesalt

Whether you were part time or full time is irrelevant to length of service. It is your start date that determines the date from which your continuous service began. Therefore, providing there is nothing else to vary this, your start date was in 1996 and this is the date that your contract shoud state that your continuous service started.

Therefore, providing this is correct, then your length of service is about 12 years.

Hope this helps, but check your contract and during consultation check all the details that your redundancy payments are being calculated on.

    Best wishes
    Carol
