Angry criteria scores in redundancy positions

I am writing for advice on the selection process for being made redundant.Originally I was advised that I had not been provisionally selected for redundancy but later I was notified that someone within my pooled area had lodged an appeal.I was then informed that they had re applied objective selection criteria and had new information skills which they were not previously aware of and I was informed that I am now provisionally selected for redundancy instead.I was given a letter to have a further consultation the next day where they would take into account any views I had. With such a short time to prepare for the meeting I went in and was offered a few days extra in which to prepare which I accepted, but they would not reveal what the new information was and I was not allowed to see the scoring.I would like to know how the other person who has lodged the appeal knew what skills were not on his original assessment if I was not allowed to see mine or theirs.I would just like to know what the law is on being allowed to see the scores at this time during the consultations especially as I was not originally the one selected for the redundancy.

Default criteria scores in redundancy positions

    Dear Alfie

Once selection criteria are notified they should not be changed without further consultation to everyone in the pool, did they do this?

It is very often the case that when people challenge scores it makes another person at risk, regretfully. However, you can challenge your scores too and yes you can ask why they changed the criteria.

You are allowed to see your scores and the written comments against them to be able to challenge them, but you are not allowed to see other people's assessments.

What I find strange is that it seems they have changed the criteria without informing everyone and therefore the selection process is unfair as they are changing to suit someone's representations and therefore the assessment could now be biased.

However, this is all going on what you have said.

Raise this during consultations and if you believe that the selection process was changed without consultation and is unfair, you have the right of appeal if they confirm the redundancy and then take them to an ET for unfair process and selection.

    Hope this helps.

    Best wishes

    Carol

Thank you for your help on this matter.I will briefly try to explain the procedure so far. After originally not being selected for redundancy I was later told that I was now selected because someone else in my pool had appealed and that they ,being the management, had overlooked something in their original assessment of the person who was appealing. To know this the person in question must have requested as you rightly pointed out to see his scores and discuss them.I was then informed that we had to go through the assessment again. At no point before that assessment took place was I informed that I could also see my score and discuss it.So as I have already said I came out with the lower score. What I really need to know is was it done fairly if the other person went into his assessment already with the prior knowledge of how the system worked, how the points were awarded and what skills were being taken into account during the assessment. When I asked after being provisionally selected for redundancy to appeal against the decision I was informed that I could only appeal after I was made redundant,so I also want to know why the other person involved could appeal if he had not been formally made redundant.I was then invited on the following day to discuss the selection criteria which has been used in the assessment but have declined to do this for a few days until I know if these matters have been handled correctly.Thank you again for your help
