    Question Redundancy pay increase

On December 9th 2008 I was sent home on gardening leave and told my employment would end March 9th, REDUNDANT.
My employers have calculated my statutory redundancy pay based on £330, how does the pay increase to £350 effect me!
Do I receive more money as my last day of employ is in March! Or because my notice period started before the pay increase announced on Feb 1st do I still get £330!

    Default Redundancy pay increase

    Dear Shadowgiant

Why are you on garden leave...are you serving notice after having been informed you are redundant?

You get the £350 maximum weekly SRP as you are still employed.

I would ask your employers to review your SRP.

Also, did you have full redundancy consultation?

Sorry, but your question is a bit confusing, but hope this has helped.

    Best wishes

    Carol

    Default clarification

On December 9th I was sent home on gardening leave on full pay, in effect my 3 months notice for redundancy. So March 9th will be my last day of 'employment'.
I have asked my employer where I stand regarding the increase and they are checking it out, believe it or not they were 'unaware' of the SRP increase!!!! They will let me know as soon as possible!

    Default oops

    Sorry Carol.
We did have the full consultation period etc.

Each grade of employee (peer groups) were given the criteria for redundancy and asked to put 'weighting' on it. Example qualifications/ driving/ membership of certain organizations etc.

I and a few others were out 'voted' when our peer group put more onus on qualifications rather than depth/ length of experience.

Now the company has lost 5 of it's most experienced people at my grade because they did not have qualifications or relevant qualifications.

I failed to meet the criteria/ weighting even after 17 years working for the company, the last 10 at a higher position.

    Hope this makes more sense.
