My role is the only role that has been made redundant as part of a restructure. I ahve been with my compnay for 10 mo only and the first meeting my boss has arranged with me was to tell me I am redundant. That was 2 weeks ago.
I have been dealing with the HR director since then. my boss has not has the decency to speak to me, or ask how I am, since. I had a consultation meeting last Tuesday where it was agreed that Friday was to be my last day unless any other roles came up. By Thursday evening I hadnt heard anything so chased and was sent a role that maybe of interest but with little details other than I would have to apply in the normal fashion. I went into work yesterday ( Friday) wanting to discuss the role, and if not suitable, prepared for that being my last day, tell colleagues etc. I was meant to meet with my manager - he emailed to say he was too busy. I emailed the HR director to discuss - I got an out of office that she was on leave. I was sitting in an office of 40 people, none of whom new I had been made redundant, unsure if it was my last day, with no one interested or available to meet to discuss the suggested new role. I felt like crying. I have complained ( I got the HR director on her mobile) and am meeting on Monday to finalise what is happening.
To me this is grossly unfair and disrespectful. The whole process has been managed appallingly. Do I have any recourse ???
Thanks in advance
