Hi
I was informed verbally on 04/02/09 that my position with the company is "at risk".
I have had 1-2-1 meeting on 10/02/09. My employers, according to their own procedures did not notify me by letter that:
a) my job was at risk
b) I was attending a 1-2-1 consultation on 10/02/09
The only communication I have had was by e-mail on 09/02/09 asking me if I could meet with the director at 10.30am.
I arrived within the workplace and the meeting did not commence until 11.05 am.
During the meeting I told the director that I have not received any written communication regarding my job being at risk or notification of the 1-2-1 meeting.
At this point he asked if I wanted to rearrange the meeting after I received the letter to which I stated that you have travelled far so we may as well continue just now.
He then gave me a copy of the at risk template letter with my name and company on it, however this was not signed by anyone underneath.
This space had been left with xxxx for completion.
My main point is should he have continued with the meeting even though the 24 hour notification procedure was not followed?
Also I have been shown no evidence to support the reasons of why I am at risk.
The template letter stated that it was due to the financial downturn within the region.
I still have no letters yet from the company although the director told me they were sent out last Friday??
Any advice would be appreciated.

Consultation/redundancy

Consultation/redundancy Dear Godai
This is a bit confusing, however it seems you agreed to continue with the consultation when you were offered the chance to wait until you had received the official documentation.
My advice would be to write to the Director and state that as no written notification or information on the redundancy process has yet been received, you believe that no formal consultation can take place and that the meeting you had last week was an informal one.
Then wait for the formal documentation and do not attend any other meetings without then being in writing and agreed. Also, you have the right to be accompanied and obviously you did not know this at the time, therefore, the correct procedure has not been followed as yet it seems.
By all means come back to us once you receive formal notification for further advice or visit the BERR website.
Best wishes
Carol
