Hi
Thank you for your message.
You have the right to a redundancy payment if you have been continuously employed for at least 2 years. The amount is based on age and number of years continuous service.
Please click here to calculate your redundancy pay.
The figure is 0.5 weeks pay for each full year if you are aged under 22, 1 week's pay if you are aged 22-41 and 1.5 weeks pay for each full year aged over 41. There is a limit of £350 per week (from 1st February 2009)
Some employers make enhanced redundancy payments which are often greater than the statutory sums.
Has your employer told you or does your contract of employment state whether you receive enhanced contractual redundancy pay? I am guessing from your post, there hasn't been much communication about your redundancy pay.
You will also be entitled to notice pay other sums due such as accrued holiday pay.
Statutory minimum period of notice is:
- one week if you've been continuously employed for between one month and
- two years and one week for each complete year (up to a maximum of 12) if you'v e been continuously employed for two or more years
