Wonder if someone can help. I have been working for same company for 13 years. 11 years working full-time in UK and last 2 years as on a different part-time contract working overseas.
The company is making redundancies all over and shutting the office in Dubai which I work out of although do not reside there.
They are refusing to pay me any redundancy given reason that there is no redundancy 'package' associated with someone on an international USD contract - only contractual notice periods.
In line with your contractual terms and conditions of employment ' Each party shall have the write to terminate this agreement at any time without cause, provided that one months written notice shall be given by the other party'.
In your case and as there has been a reduction in activity in the area that you worked, your position is no longer required and that was the reason for the notice of redundancy/termination.
If there was no reduction in activity in my area why are they closing doing office in Dubai and laying off 30% of staff?
Do I have any claims do you think?
