Dear Forum employment law and redundancy experts,
I sincerely hope there's somebody out there who can offer me some help.
To cut a long story short, a special friend has been coming on business trips with me. Not a huge crime you'd think. The problem is that I hold a very high powered and public job in the United Kingdom and I can't help thinking I'm the victim of a hate campaign.
My special friend has been on approx 18 foreign trips with me (could be a few more), mostly funded by the tax payer. He's not an official employee or advisor but he's very important to me, in fact he's my Crutch.
When "mAdam" (not his real name) is with me, I feel I can take on the world.
My question is this: Is what I have done a sack-able offence?
Can I put "mAdam" down to a business expense or perhaps a perk of the job? I feel I'm being hung out to dry and don't think I will make it to the weekend. I enjoy my current employment and realise there's a tough job market out there, especially since my party won power. I'm too old to join the military and to be perfectly honest, I doubt they'd want me anyway (I was instrumental in ending the careers of 25% of our military personnel prematurely).
I thought I could trust my boss, but he's more interest in the reputation of the Government!!!
If anybody out there can offer advice that might get me off the hook, please give it. I've been accused of being a poor listener in the past, but am all ears now.
Yours faithfully
The Right Honourable
