Default Part time to full time - is redundancy fair?

    Hi

I would really appreciate some advice.

I work part time as a sales trainer for a large PLC, I work at a regional centre. I have worked there for 16 months having been employed there for many years previously, (not continuous employment).

They are currently undergoing a consultation period with a view to centralising a number of sales operations to my office, due to this they have decided that my role needs to be full time.

Last week I had to complete a form setting out my interest in redundancy, (for which I do not qualify!) or in any of the new roles. I set out my interest in the Trainer's role on a part time/job share basis. There is another part time trainer at one of the other centres but I am unsure if she is able to travel. I have just found out today that the salary being offered is 25% than I currently get.

    My questions are these:

    • As my role effectively remains but they need more of it should I have to apply to continue to carry out my job or should I automatically be offered it with another part time role being offered to fill in the remaining hours?
    • Do I have to accept a reduced salary if I get the new job on the same part time basis?
    • Is it appropriate for them to make me redundant because I am unable to offer them full time hours? ( I have 4 small children, youngest age 2)

I would really value some advice on this and any other suggestions/rights that you may know of that I can refer to.

    Thanks very much.
