Hi,
My company is reorganizing our department. The actual structure is made of one National Marketing Manager, one Local Marketing Manager and one Marketing Executive.
The new structure will merge the National and Local Marketing roles into a new Marketing Manager position.
Only the National and Local Marketing Manager roles have been put at risk of redundancy, not the Marketing Executive role.
Both my collegue and I have been offered the opportunity to apply for the new role. The selection process will be based on an interview only, which will conduct by the owner of the company.
If I am not chosen for the role I will be consequently made redundant.
My question is - if I'me made redundant do I still have the right to be offered alternative employment? Should my employer consider the possibility of 'bumping' my collegue in the Marketing Executive role? (junior role that I could easily perform if I was willing to accept the pay cut)
Thanks in advance.
P.

Bumping is a complex area, but the simplest rule of thumb is that the employer does not have to agree to bumping - so you can ask but they do not have to do it.

Thanks for your prompt reply.
I have recently come across the case Fulcrum Pharma (Europe) Ltd v Bonassera and it seems to indicate quite clearly that an employer should consider bumping in redundancy processes.

I am a little confused. Could you please help clarify when failing to consider bumping can lead to unfair dismissal and when not?
Many thanks again.
