Well finally after 180 days so called consultation we have finally been given our 90 Day notice starting 24th June we will requeired to work until 22nd July but could be needed for another 2 weeks!!
Some people who have not been there 12 years have only been given notice for the number of years they have worked ie 7, 8 or 11 weeks, we had been told we would get 90 days notice not that it would be worked out like this. We have also been told from somebody who has been through a redundancy situation that it is law that anybody who has worked somewhere for 2 years or more must be given 90 days!
Could somebody clarify please?
Thank you in advance.

Yes - no! If you have been in employment for two years then you are entitled to 2 weeeks notice and this increases by one week for every completed year up to the maximum of 12 weeks. Somebody was wrong.

not sure i've got this right but if somebody has completed 10 years they should get 2 weeks notice plus a week for every year after making a total of 10 weeks?

Well - that's a complicated way of doing the maths, but correct. It's one year for every year of service after 2 years - before two weeks stautory notice is always one week.

I'm not sure how you have worked this out. Surely it's fair that people who have worked there longer get more notice? I don't see how the employer is "winning" on this.
