Default Advice Please of Query Date

Being made Redundant end January. The third consultation meeting was held yesterday.Told my contract finished on 30th January 2009 (Friday) However my query is this the 31st Jan 2009 is my Birthday (am 54) and the form HR1 sent to Goverment on which I have a copy states 31st January as being the day Redundency are to be made. So on 31st Jan my birthday I would be entitled to12 years redundency but if 30th then 11 years. Are they correct to say employment ceases 30-1-2009 if so would lose out on 1 year redundency (£495) when they have setnt form in stating 31-1-2009. Thanks

Hi you have to look at thje amount of completed years service. Have a look at this site http://www.berr.gov.uk/cgi-bin/er_feb07_reconner.pl and complete to see if the age makes a difference.

    Regards

    Iain

Is not the years service its the fact they have moved the day from 31st to 30th, which therefore makes me year younger!
