My wife's place of work is closing but she is to be interviewed for alternative employment elsewhere in the organisation, although she's been told that the alternative jobs will be on a lower pay grade and in a different (as yet unspecified) location. Her pay rate will, however, be ring-fenced for 2 years.
My question is this: where does she stand if she just doesn't put herself forward for interview and refuses to apply for any of the jobs on offer?
Cheers.

If it is a lower pay grade and she has no salary protection then she can refuse it as a suitablee alternative. With two years pay protection - sorry, no chance. Location doesn't matter quite as much unless it is a huge difference. But perosnal circumstances can also give rise to reasonable refusals. If she wants to try to refuse it she will have to tell me on exactly what grounds she is doing so and why it is unacceptable to her - then I will give you a best guess, because only a tribunal can rule what reasonable or unreasonable is.
