I have just been notified that I have been selected for redundacy.
There will be a 30 day consultation period.
My curent role has two parts, a technical role and a managerial role.
I was only scored on the managerial role in the selection process, even though I considered myself to be primarily a technical person with limited managerial responsibilities.
Because I am a "single point of failure" as far as the technical part of my job is concerned, there is a strong possibility that one of the following may occur
a) I will be asked to train someone else in the technical role (who could be from a different country) during the consultation period. Am I within my rights to resist this on the grounds I am training a replacement ?
b) My actual date of redundancy could be deferred by several months to complete technical work, can I resist this on the grounds that I am being treated differently to the rest of the people being made redundant?
handover when being made redundant. Is this fair?

Hi Chris Ian. An expert should be along shortly to offer advice. In the meantime if you think of any other details that might be relevant then let us know, it may help somebody provide you with a more satisfactory answer. Thanks

Hi there
I was in a very similar position as yourself but did not resist and co-operated with the employer on my hand over duties/responsibilities with the outsourcer. It's difficult as my position was made redundant but there's still work to be done and I believe its a cost cutting exercise, ie. cheaper to outsource my role. I've a separate post about my situation and it's stil not resolved even though I co-operated 100% throughout my notice period. I'm hopeful it will work out but it's such a difficult time at the moment and nothing is guaranteed unfortunately.
Good luck in your situation and hope it works out. cheers,
