Hi I have been told today i'm being made redundant after working for a company for 11yrs. the company recently got tuped over and began a management restructure which meant making these redundancies. There has been a full consultation process.
I am pregnant and was meant to be going on a/l on may 2nd then on maternity leave.
I believe i have to work 8 wks notice which depending when it starts would take me past may 2nd.
My manager also made the suggestion of garden leave.
I dont know much about all this?
Is garden leave paid? T what rate?
When will my notice period start?
Am I still entitled to the first six wks of maternity leave being paid at 100% of basic wage as was agreed and in my contract even though my notice will probably be over before first six wks of maternity ends?
I cant afford to loose any money which is why i was taking a/l either side of my six wks full paid maternity leave but have been told my redundancy will not be paid until end of notice period, so if not entitled to full maternity pay as agreed i may have to wait and have no money until end of notice?
Please help
Thank you

Garden leave will be paid at your normal rate.
Your notice period will usually start from the date you are told you are definitely redundant. Once your employer confirms your position is redundant they should give you your termination date.
If you are entitled to Statutory Maternity Pay you will still get that. In terms of anything your employer offers over and above SMP that's entirely up to them. You will need to read the terms and conditions in your contract/maternity policy to find out whether you are entitled. Usually not - usually you have to be a) still employed and b) return to work for a certain period after your maternity leave. But even if you are not technically entitled to it, you should still ask for it.
Assuming you are entitled to SMP all you would be losing is 10% of your salary for 6 weeks.
If your redundancy takes effect while you are on mat leave you have some additional rights. Are there any other jobs available at all? Women on maternity leave when their job is redundant get priority over others in selection for available vacancies.
