I work for a college that is currently assessing a merger with another institution. This other institution is located approx 28 miles away from the location we are in.
This extra distance has rendered it impossible for some of us to travel to, either due to lack of available public transport or that some staff don't drive.
In redundancy situation, would not being able to get to the new place of work, if this did get proposed, be grounds to receive redundancy or would staff just simply have to resign and forgoe and redundancy as the job has still been offered, albeit in another location?

This one is difficult to answer because the answer is possibly. 28 miles isn't a huge amount of travel, so it would depend on the exact circumstances of individuals and this is something I can't predict. In the first instance it depends on whether the employer accepts the arguments of individuals.
