I am senior executive for a well known company. Alhough I have performed well in my role, there now seems a internal campaign to get rid of me through redundancy.
They have brought in a new senior exec over me and he has taken on most of my day to day duties using all previous work, as his strategy etc.
He has spent the last 4 months talking directly to all my staff behind my back and telling them where they will fit into a new org structure, and at the same time taking on new people in roles that have not been advertised internally.
2 weeks ago I was issued with a "risk of redundancy" letter quoting a % of my work would be undertaken by the groups I already manage.
Is it unfair if someone is brought in above you to perform your existing job?
Thanks

Unfair Selection for Redundancy??

No. And neither is anything else here that you mention. The employer brought in a new manager over you - they can do so. Work has been reallocated and a new structure proposed - the employer can do this. He has been talking to his staff (he is senior to you!) about the new structure - he can do so. An employer does not have to advertise at all - internally or externally. Nobody was at risk when the jobs were appointed to so they could appoint to these posts as they wished provided that they did not discriminate in so doing, on the grounds of race, gender etc. So there is nothing here upon which to base an unfair selection case. Sorry.
