Default Redundancy pay and maternity leave WOOLWORTHS

i am currently on maternity leave, it started in sept 08 and i wrote in my letter i would return after 52 weeks in sept 09.
unfortunatly i am employed by woolworths. i have worked for them for 15 years. at the moment i only work 9 hours a week, and am getting maternity allowance through the job centre.
am i entitled to redundancy pay? also as i have worked for so long they are supposed to give me 12 weeks notice, am i entitled to that as well, while being paid maternity allowance?
    thanks mattalex

Hi mattalex. Thank you for your question. Congratulations on your new arrival although I am sorry to hear that you were an employee of Woolworths.

I guess you are aware that it is HRMC (government) that is responsible for paying your claim for Maternity Pay. In terms of redundancy pay, even though you are on maternity leave, you have the right to a statutory redundancy payment if you have worked continuously for Woolworths for at least two years, which you have. You would also have the right to claim for notice pay.

The insolvency practitioner/administrator (Deloitte) or your HR department should send you the forms required for claiming any money you are owed. If this doesn't happen, write to the insolvency practitioner setting out your claims. They should also explain how to claim payments from the Redundancy Payments Office and HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC).

I hope that has helped with your question, but please feel return if you need any further help.
