Hello,
I have been told that my position is at risk of redundancy. I work in a small website company of around 13 employees. The company is struggling financially and has been over the past 18 months. My position is a front end developer. I build the websites and am the only person in the company who does so. I've been told my position is at risk but how can a website company not have this postion? It is imperative to the process! I'm told that my manger will take on my role. Surely his is unfairly replacing me?
The directors of the company seem to make the mistake that when work flow is good they hire additional staff and fail to look at the long term. Then people like myself end up suffering for their mistake.
If made redundant, do I have a case for unfair redundancy?
Please advise

Case for unfair redundancy?

I don't think so - although there are not enough details to be sure yet. But bad business planning isn't one of the grounds, that is for sure. I am afraid that employer stupidity is allowed. And if another member of staff can do the work (possibly!) then this is also ok - it's the job disappearing that makes you redudnant, not the work disappearing somewhere else! I would suggest though that you check up on the redundancy process to be sure they are doing things in the right way - and possibly research "bumping" to see if it applies to you. Then come back if you have questions we can help with.
